What is an anchor text ?

Anchor Text is a clickable hyperlinked text in a content body over the web. Under SEO guidelines, in order to make anchor text more valuable, it should be relevant to the webpage it is being linked to, instead of a generic term.
As an example, take following two versions of a sentence with anchor text (underlined text).
a) Read best PPC practices.
b) Click here to read about best PPC practices.
As per SEO guidelines, a) version is a better choice.
