India is now the second largest global market for Uber which has launched its services in 7 new cities in the country, all at once. With these new locations, which include Visakhapatnam, Coimbatore, Surat, Indore, Nagpur, Mysore and Bhubaneswar, Uber has expanded its presence to a total of 18 cities across India.
Since its launch in India, Uber has invested a lot in advertising and branding to mark its presence in the country felt. India now stands as the second largest market for Uber just after USA. Uber has said that in India, the company has seen 40% growth in the number of rides. Uber has also appointed a president for its operations in India to run the business smoothly and push further growth.
Uber has chosen the 7 cities with proper research, The company said that people in these 7 cities were already waiting for Uber to start its services. Uber expects a good responce from all these 7 cities. Although Uber’s biggest competitor in India, Ola cabs is present in more cities, Uber says that they have a tough competition on the number of rides.
However, in China, Uber has touched the 1 million rides mark and plans to launch its services in 50 cities in the coming months. That will obviously be more than India but for the time, India is the second largest market for Uber.
